It actually stays up so you won't be pulling it up all night long. Its is a contour cup, so it adds shape. I would suggest wearing this with SPANX: Slim Cognito Shaping Bodysuit. Style 069 gives you the option to attach to your bra. I would not use it with a strapless bra. This style is high waisted constructed of slick yarns that won't cling to your gown and will give you a smooth silhouette.
